The Ronald McDonald House in Saint Augustine, Germany is a six-story futuristic building with an optically curved structure. The building has 25 apartments that provide a temporary home for 450 families each year, while the children receive inpatient care at a clinic just a two-minute walk away.
A major construction challenge involved the design of a roof structure that extends over the projecting column-free multi-purpose room while also acting as a cantilever for the main structure above the entrance area.
